The Climate Action Team in Laois County Council are piloting a ‘Green your Festival’ Kit which will be available to all community groups and event organisers across Co. Laois.
Laois County Council is pleased to be piloting this Green Your Festival (GYF) Laois project with six local events across the county this summer which will see the development of a Green Your Festival Laois network. The objective of this project is to support festival and event organisers in reducing the environmental impacts of outdoor events through:
The Climate Action Team is working with Native Events, industry leaders in Sustainable Event Management. They have been involved in producing the following resources for the Irish events sector:
The Green Your Festival (GYF) Laois project is planned to take place over three years, with the kit growing each year.
is a pilot scheme involving six events and will involve the creation of checklists and training in advance of events to help with sustainable event management.
From layout and design to simple signage we will work to improve your festival waste management. Bin Toppers will be available to go on top of 240 litre festival bins around the site. These will include up to four Waste Streams:
Using a Wattsun Battery Stack which will be available for use at events which will offer an alternative to traditional generators, which rely entirely on fossil fuels, by providing access to grid electricity (50% renewable) and solar power (100% renewable). The battery option must be robust, portable, safe, and easy to use.
